iPhone and Android use different numbering: the App Store shows 6.2.x, while Android builds are 5.0.x. Compare numbers only within one platform. On Android, APKMirror lists 139.60 MB for the 17 September build against 103.48 MB for the 6 March build, so the newest file is noticeably larger.
Why file sizes differ between archives
You may see the same Android build listed at different sizes. APKMirror lists a universal package, while APKPure lists XAPK bundles built per processor type (arm64-v8a or armeabi-v7a), which is why one site shows 189.4 MB and another 137.36 MB for the 11 June build. The App Store lists the iPhone download at 200.2 MB. Leave a few hundred MB free before you update, because the app needs room to unpack.
Alight Motion latest version: how to check which one you have
- iPhone and iPad: open Alight Motion in the App Store. If the button says Open, you already have the newest build. The listing’s Version History shows each build and its date.
- Android: open Alight Motion’s page in Google Play. An Update button means a newer build is available. Settings > Apps > Alight Motion also shows the installed version.
Do not trust a version number on a third-party page without matching it to a store listing or an archive that shows an upload date.
What’s new in Alight Motion: what the release notes say
Less than most pages claim. The App Store lists 25 builds from 6.2.35 (25 August 2025) to 6.2.60 (2 October 2026). Their notes are either “Bug fixes and performance improvements” or a short message saying the update keeps everything working smoothly. None names a feature. We found no version-specific notes for Android 5.0.x builds either.
That means a “What’s New” list with faster rendering, new transitions or upgraded color tools for a 2026 build has no official source behind it. The last feature-specific notes we could find belong to the 3.x and 4.x releases, listed below.

Older iPhone release notes, which are undated in the copy we found, list more additions: Soft Glow, Light Glow and Edge Glow effects, Omino Diffusion+ and Omino Glass, Fill Behind and Magnify Background, Echo Keyframes, Unsharp Mask, Streak Strips, Page Curl, Luma Stamper, Chromatic Zoom Blur, Color Balance and Warp Blur, plus 18 fps and 20 fps frame rate options. They show how earlier updates added effects one batch at a time. Recent builds have not followed that pattern in their notes.
Alight Motion 6.0 update: is there one?
Not as a new release. The App Store history already shows 6.2.35 in August 2025, so the iPhone app passed 6.0 earlier. We could not find a date or notes for 6.0. Android builds are numbered 5.0.x, and we found no Android 6.0 announcement. If a page promises an Alight Motion 6.0 update with new tools, ask where its notes come from.
Alight Motion update 2027: what to expect
Nothing is confirmed. As of 17 October 2026, no 2027 release exists, and the developer has not announced a 2027 roadmap in the sources we checked. The track record is frequent small updates: 25 iPhone builds in about 13 months. Expect more of the same, and check the App Store Version History and Google Play instead of pages that list 2027 features.
Alight Motion update: how to install it safely
- Back up your projects. Open each project, tap the Export icon at the top right, choose Project Package and tap Export. Keep the link and QR code. Alight Motion’s Help Center says deleting or reinstalling the app permanently deletes projects. A normal update is not a reinstall, but a backup costs little.
- Update from the official store. On Android, tap Update on the Alight Motion page in Google Play. On iPhone and iPad, tap Update in the App Store.
- Open one project and check it. Play it, scrub the timeline and export a short test.
- If something broke, read Alight Motion previous versions before you uninstall anything. Android support is reachable at support-android@alightmotion.com, the address in the Google Play text.
After you update: a five-minute check
- Open a recent project and play it from start to end.
- Check that your fonts, effects and audio still load.
- Export a 10-second test and watch it on your phone.
- Check your membership. Alight Motion’s listings say subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings on iPhone, and processed by Google and cancelled through Google Play on Android.
If a project looks different, do not delete the app. Take a screenshot, keep the Project Package you made earlier and contact support.
Common problems after an update
Some App Store reviewers describe lag, freezes or crashes in large projects, and a few reviews from 2020 and 2023 describe lost edits or having to reinstall. These are user reports, not official statements, and they are a reason to keep backups rather than a prediction for your device. Where to download the newest version
Use Google Play on Android and the App Store on iPhone and iPad. Alight Motion’s Help Center says it supports only versions installed from those stores, and it warns about unofficial sources. For other builds and install help, see download all builds. Check any file before you install it, and match the package name com.alightcreative.motion. An XAPK is a bundle that needs a helper app to install, which is one more reason to prefer the store.
Alight Motion mod version and the “mod apk latest version” label
A mod version is a modified copy of the app, not an official release. Searches for an Alight Motion mod apk latest version return pages that sell files labeled 5.0.281, with feature lists such as faster rendering and upgraded color tools. We found no 5.0.281 on APKMirror, whose highest Android build is 5.0.273.1028427, and no official notes that match those lists. Version labels on mod files do not have to match any store build.
Alight Motion’s Help Center warns that apps from unofficial sources may contain malware or modifications, may damage the device, and may cause loss or leak of projects or data. How we verify version numbers
We trust sources in this order. First, the official store listing: the App Store’s Version History shows each iPhone build with a date. Second, software archives that show an upload date, a file size and a package name, such as APKMirror, which states that its team reviews every APK before posting. Third, everything else, which we treat as unverified. A version number on a page with no date, no file size and no store link does not count as evidence, however confident the page sounds. We also note when two sources disagree, as they do on the minimum Android version.
